East Lothian, Scotland

A golf tour to East Lothian is really like traveling to golfing mecca. With 22 golf courses in the area the most challenging part is which ones to leave out. The Open venue of Muirfield which is rated as one of the most challenging on the rota has the old school charm and setting of a gentleman’s club. Brutal in the wind but packed full of history it is a must play.

Around the Firth Of Forth the land lends itself to pure links courses and you can literally go from one to the next in minutes. From modern design and facilities at Archerfield Links which has two of the very best layouts in the area as well as top class lodges and a restaurant so that you can stay on site.

Gullane GC has three courses under it’s banner. All three are similar in aesthetics was they all use the natural topography of the land and Gullane Hill but they all play very differently due to their lengths. Numbers 2 & 3 are like Russian Doll versions of the Championship layout of Number 1 which has hosted The Scottish Open twice in recent years and is a great test.

The towns of Aberlady, Gullane and North Berwick offer visitors the chance to relax and a hard day on the course and sample the local cuisine in some fine Restaurants and Bars.

In North Berwick there is one the oldest clubs in the world, golf has been played on The North Berwick course over the same layout since 1832, only St Andrews boasts a longer stretch. Quirky in nature but a real treat for the purists and historians this is the 13th oldest club in the world, take a step back and admire the origins of the game.

Other notable courses to consider would be Dunbar, Craigielaw, Luffness, Kilspindie. All of the aforementioned would be a great addition to your visit. We can tailor a package for as many rounds of golf you wish to play as well a choice of fine accommodation.
